Meet Your Doula &
Lactation Counselor

Hi, I'm Chermeka, founder of
The Healing Latch.

I'm glad you're here! I'm a Certified Lactation Counselor, Certified Birth Doula, and Certified Postpartum Doula dedicated to supporting families through pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding, and the postpartum period with compassionate, evidence-based care. In addition to my certifications, I’ve completed training in Spinning Babies® techniques, VBAC support, and cesarean birth support, allowing me to better support families with a wide range of birth experiences. Since beginning my birth work in 2019, I've had the privilege of serving families in Western New York and virtually across the United States.

Why I Do This Work

Long before I entered this profession, I experienced the power of community firsthand. I grew up surrounded by women who openly breastfed, shared their knowledge, and supported one another through pregnancy and parenting. That "it takes a village" mindset continues to shape the way I care for families today.

As a wife and mother of five, I bring both lived experience and professional training to every family I serve. My own breastfeeding journey has shown me that breastfeeding is about so much more than nutrition. It can be a source of comfort, regulation, connection, and healing for both parent and baby. That understanding inspired the birth of The Healing Latch.

The Healing Latch Philosophy

We do so much more than "heal the latch"

Happy Family Gathering

What You Can Expect When We Work Together

 *Compassionate Support

 *Evidence-Based Information

 *Collaborative Care

 *Respect for Your Goals

At The Healing Latch, the belief that healing isn't just about improving a baby's latch is core. It's about helping families feel informed, supported, and confident throughout pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding, and postpartum.

The best care happens when families are surrounded by a connected community of support. My role is to walk alongside you, provide evidence-based guidance, and help you access the resources you need to meet your family's unique goals.

Whether we're preparing for birth, working through breastfeeding challenges, or navigating the postpartum transition, my hope is that you'll always feel respected, heard, and supported.
